A Marvel-ous Time for Games
Marvel comic book fans are in for a very big videogame year in 2007. In addition to a slew of new movies hitting the big screen, there will also be many new interactive experiences from a variety of game publishers. After releasing the original "Fantastic Four" movie-based game last year, Activision has dropped the license. 2K Games will bring "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" to current and next generation game consoles in June along with the new movie. 2K Games is also bringing the game based on the February "Ghost Rider" movie and comic out early next year.
Activision does have plenty of Marvel games. In addition to the recently released "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance," Activision has "Spider-Man 3" slated for May 2007 in conjunction with the third film's release. Activision also has "Spider-Man Trilogy" shipping next fall. Activision also owns the rights to the "X-Men" franchise and released a game with the third film this past summer.
Sega just picked up the rights to "Iron Man," which is the first movie being made by the new Marvel Studios. The game publisher is also working on another, undisclosed, Marvel game.
Electronic Arts has a new "Marvel Nemesis" game in development for late 2007. And Konami is bringing its popular "Marvel vs." card game to game systems early next year.
